Aegir is a part of U.S. Navy’s Integrated Hydrodynamics Design Environment (IHDE). Aegir has been validated by Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center. Aegir is a NURBS-based, “panel-less”, high- order, boundary-element method for the computation of steady and unsteady forces and motions of systems operating at or near the free surface. Aegir is fast, able to operate on a desktop machine in a matter of minutes for steady wave resistance solutions and hours for long-time seakeeping simulations. However, Navatek’s 128 node cluster allows for large batches of runs to be performed in parallel. This capability can be coupled to shape morphing and NavADE ™, Navatek’s in-house, automated design optimization process, to produce optimal designs with a quick turn-around. Navatek has used NavADE on a wide range of systems.
